2 Blue Marlin 1Spearfish for Dorado

Monday 22nd June 2009

Seven Billfish raised today by all the boats 3 of which fell to DORADOS Anglers.
Bad Luck for Dorado Today 2 hook ups with Blue Marlin and 1 spearfish. The first Blue Marlin ran off a good 200 meters of line anglers busy winding in while the fish made 12 spectacular jumps before throwing the hook- thats fishing folks! One hour Later a Spearfish was raised pulling the line out of the clips twice this fish did not hook up and faded off - More Bad Luck!. 30 minuets later a 2nd Blue Marlin entered the spread and made a bee-line for the shot gun Rig before switching to the Long Rigger unfortunately this fish did not hook up. 20 minuets later after circling the area we raised him again 3/4 minuets weaving in and out of the lures then the fish faded off. Although we did not catch today all on board enjoyed the experience and NO BILLFish were today caught by any of the Charter Boats.

2 Blue Marlin and Spearfish

Wednesday 17th June 2009

After arriving back in Gran Canaria at the weekend DORADO was back in action for its 1st days fishing today. WHAT A START 2 BLUE MARLIN TAGGED AND RELEASED AND LOSING A SPEARFISH.
First in the HOT seat was Father Paul Kimsey a Valued Client who fished in La Gomera last year. Paul Expertly played the fish and fought for 20 minuets before bringing this beauty alongisde the boat where it lit up like an xmas tree . His Sons were in awe of this Beautiful Creature. Some 30mins after the Release of Pauls Marlin of 190kilos / 400lbs a Spearfish wandered into the spread and took the short Centre Lure hooking up for a few seconds before spitting it out and then chased and hooked up on the Long rigger Lure and after a few seconds again decided THIS was not going to be his dinner for the day- Bad Luck for Son number 1 who´s turn it was for the HOT Seat.
Aprroximately 10 mins after rigging up again a 160kilos / 350lbs Blue Marlin made a bee-line for the Shot GUN Lure hooking up in an instance . This fish was for Son Nathan who at 16 years of age sat in the Hot Seat and expertly Played this fish to Tag & Release. THIS was Nathan´s 1st ever attempt at Big Game fishing and although he is an acomplished Golfer of Scratch 16 he played this fish like and acomplished Angler. Nathan is studying at Lincoln College , Sports Science so maybe he will get some tips of which muscles need to be excercised more for BIG GAME Fishing. I think we will be hearing more of this Youngster in the years to come as a PRO GOLFER with a passion for BIG Game fishing as his relaxation.
Congratulations to Paul and his Family and thank you for chartering the Dorado today.
